Getting started

From signing up to a job you can run, in about ten minutes.

What this is

ProHomePlanner is a register for one building job: every room, every task, every order, every open question, and who owes what on each. It replaces the spreadsheet, the group chat and the notebook with one place everybody on the job can read.

It is built around the house rather than around a bar chart. You say what has to happen and what it waits on; the register works out what can start today, what is blocked, and when the job ends.

Your first ten minutes

  1. Sign up with your name, your email and a name for the property. An email arrives with a link to choose a password.
  2. Add the rooms. Open Rooms and add each one, grouped into parts of the property such as Main house or Pool house. Rooms are how everything else is found.
  3. Lay in the work. Open Templates, pick a bathroom, a kitchen or a room refresh, choose the room, and the whole job is added in order with the orders it needs. Or add tasks one at a time from Tasks.
  4. Add the people. Open People & settings, add each person with their email, choose what they may do, and send them an invitation.
  5. Open Sequence to see the job left to right, and Tasks to put work on weeks.

The property's own email address

Every property has an address of its own, in the form anything@your-property.prohomeplanner.com. Anything before the @ works, so orders@ and a mistyped ordes@ both arrive. It is in your welcome email and at the top of the Inbox page under Admin.

Give it to suppliers and copy it on orders. What they send lands in the job's inbox, where it can be filed against the order, task or question it concerns, or turned into a task.

The five registers

  • Rooms: the places work happens, grouped into parts of the property.
  • Tasks: the work. Each has days, the weeks it is on, who is on it, and what it waits on.
  • Orders: what is being bought. Each has a status from undecided to delivered, and the tasks it holds up.
  • Inventory: the things themselves once they exist, and where each one is.
  • Questions: anything that needs an answer from somebody before work can carry on.

Every reference, such as TASK-012 or ORDER-005, is a chip. Hover it for the facts, click it to open the thing, from anywhere on the site.
